Coast Life Midwifery believe that supporting women and families beyond birth is an essential part of their service. There is a real need for new parents to have some postnatal support to provide respite from “other” tasks that still need to be done after you have had a baby.

There is great benefit in providing this model of care and the team at Coast Life have launched their latest venture; the Coast Life Angels.

Not just for new mums, it also provides support for partners, siblings and helps families when other support isn’t available. If you don’t have family close by or if your partner has to return to work, your partner is FIFO, or you just need an extra pair of hands, then the Home Help team is on hand to support you every step of the way.

New Mothers need to feel supported domestically so that they can tend to their own needs and the needs of their newborn. A mothers own self care is essential in the early weeks and beyond. Having a home help angel relieves new parents of the everyday tasks that life gives us. By eliminating this pressure, it enables mums, dads and siblings to have more time to connect with each other, more time to rest and recover and more time to feel supported in their journey together.

What does this support look like? Its different for every family and can often take the form of these types of roles;

  • Pack and unpack the dishwasher
  • Wash and dry dishes
  • Light Housework – kitchen tidy up, sweeping, living area tidy
  • Making beds
  • Laundry -putting loads on, getting washing on and off the line, folding
  • Support with a chat and a cuppa
  • Cuddle and mind baby while mum has a shower or a nap
  • Watch toddlers/ siblings while mum rests
  • Meal preparation/ packing older children’s lunches
  • Packing shopping away

Our Angels individualise their service to each household to meet the need of that particular family.

Coast Life Angels are all trained by midwives, have Blue Cards and insurance.

Natalie Douglas

Nat has 4 children of her own ranging from preschool to teens and knows all to well the hard work it takes to parent a young family while trying to maintain a household. She has a passion for women and family-centred care and understands and appreciates the need for support in the postpartum period, particularly when siblings are involved.
Nat lived away from family when her eldest children were babies and what little help she did receive in those times, and more recently with her younger children made a world of difference. She would love nothing more than to provide assistance so women and families can flourish along the journey of new parenthood. Nat can not wait to meet you and join you on your journey of parenthood.
