Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Jolene is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker experienced in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Mental Health with a special interest in pre and postnatal mental health including birth trauma, parenting adjustment, and attachment.  Originally from New Zealand she completed her Bachelor of Social Work (Hons) in Wellington at Massey University in 2008.

Throughout Jolene’s career she has always worked with children, young people and families and enjoy working with people during the multitude of transitions which occur throughout the lifespan.  She is passionate about working with women, their partners, and families in the pre and postnatal period.  The experiences women and their families have in the lead up to and following the birth of their baby unquestionably influence the health and emotional well-being of mother’s their babies, their families, and the broader community.

Jolene’s practice utilises a relational approach meaning she works with you as a partner in the process in which we both seek to understand the difficulties that have brought you to seek support.  Jolene uses an integrated practice framework including attachment models such as Circle of Security and the PACE model, trauma-informed models such as Sensorimotor psychotherapy and other somatic focused models, cognitive models such as Schema Therapy, and others as indicated.

In addition to private practice, Jolene continues a role in public mental health where she has 12 years of experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and pre/postnatal women and families.
