Heidi Karleusa

Endorsed Midwife

Originally from Victoria, I spent most of my life there before recently making the move to Queensland for a tree change with my husband. We were drawn to the Sunshine Coast for its warmer climate and more relaxed, outdoor-focused lifestyle. While our three beautiful daughters remain in Victoria for now, we’re hopeful they’ll join us in the future.

Since relocating, we’ve been busy renovating our home here on the Sunshine Coast. This is keeping both my husband, and I busy in our spare time.

I began my midwifery career later in life, starting my journey in 2008 after transitioning from a career in banking to healthcare.

I experienced some complications in my last pregnancy and the care I received from my midwives during my hospital stay was remarkable.

From then on, I knew that was what I was meant to be!

I am a passionate midwife with a strong belief that all women deserve individual care to suit their own personal needs during their pregnancy journey.  My aim is to empower families to feel comfortable and confident in the decisions they make throughout this journey.

I want women to feel confident to have a physiological experience and be supported during their pregnancy, birth and beyond.

I am a strong advocate for continuity of care, which led me to becoming a private midwife in 2020.  This enabled me to offer an option to women outside of hospital-based care.  It meant women were able to have the security during a time where they can be vulnerable, there was someone able to support them and advocate for their beliefs.

I am looking forward to continuing my midwifery up here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast!

Many thanks,
Heidi
