The weeks after birth are a time of enormous change. While you’re getting to know your baby, your body is healing, you’re adjusting to a new routine, and you’re learning skills that no book can fully prepare you for.
At Coast Life Midwifery, we believe this stage deserves just as much care and attention as pregnancy and birth. That’s why we’re by your side with personalised postnatal support, practical guidance and reassurance whenever you need it.
Whether you gave birth at home or in hospital, we’ll help you recover with confidence and settle into life with your new baby.
Postnatal – Continuity of Care From Your Midwives
The early weeks with a newborn can be joyful, overwhelming and everything in between. Questions often arise at unexpected times, and sometimes you simply need someone you know and trust to reassure you that you’re doing a great job.
Our experienced midwives provide ongoing care in the comfort of your home, in our clinic, or via telehealth when appropriate. From feeding support and newborn care to your physical recovery and emotional wellbeing, we are here to support your whole family, not just your baby.
Postnatal Care
Your post birth care may include:
- Up to 3 x postnatal home visits within a 40km radius of the practice
- Unlimited postnatal visits at the practice up until your baby is 6 weeks old.
- Phone and text support as needed until your baby is 6 weeks old.
- Feeding and breastfeeding support from experienced midwives
- Birth debriefing and emotional support
- Health checks for both you and your baby
- Guidance with newborn feeding, settling and sleep
- Referrals to specialist services or community supports if needed
- Ongoing access to your midwives for advice and reassurance during the first six weeks after birth.
- Week 1 & Week 4 check up for mother and baby by our Midwives.
The fourth trimester
The fourth trimester deserves exceptional care.
Recovery after birth isn’t just about physical healing. It’s about feeling supported as you grow into your new role, build confidence as a parent and navigate the many changes that come with welcoming a baby.
Having continuity of care with a private midwife means you are not starting from scratch with someone new. You will continue to receive care from our midwives who already know you, understand your birth experience and can provide personalised advice that’s right for your family.
